Baku 2015 passes European Games Flag to the EOC with “future assured”

Baku; 28 June 2015: The President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC), Patrick Hickey, today received the European Games Flag from Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sport and Baku 2015 CEO, Azad Rahimov, at a ceremony held on the final day of the inaugural European Games.
Speaking after the event, President Hickey said:
“For a little over 30 months, Baku has been the custodian of the European Games. Today the EOC receives our Games back stronger and more full of potential than we could ever have imagined at this stage. One of the great legacies of Baku 2015 will be to have laid the foundations for all future European Games. After the spectacular success of the inaugural edition, the future of this event is assured.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Rahimov said:
“Mr President, I hand to you the flag of the European Games in a special presentation case. It contains a plaque for the next European Games host city – and enough plaques for the next 100 years of the European Games.”
In attendance at the ceremony were the EOC Executive Committee, members of the EOC’s Baku 2015 European Games Coordination Commission and Directors of the Baku 2015 European Games Operations Committee, as well as several volunteers representing the 12,500 Flamekeepers who have played such a prominent role in the Games’ success.

The European Games is a multi-sport event for elite European athletes and will be held every four years with more than 6,000 athletes expected to participate in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June 2015. The European Games was launched following a majority vote of 49 NOCs during the EOC General Assembly in December 2012.
The EOC’s original target was for 15 sports to feature in the inaugural edition of the European Games. Due to exceptionally high levels of interest coming from both European and international federations there are now 20 sports on the Sports Programme.

Baku; 28 giugno 2015: il presidente dei comitati olimpici europei (EOC), Patrick Hickey, ha ricevuto oggi la bandiera europea giochi dell’Azerbaigian Ministro della gioventù e dello Sport e Baku 2015 CEO, Azad Rahimov, durante una cerimonia tenutasi il giorno finale dei giochi europei inaugurale.
Parlando dopo l’evento, Presidente Hickey sai d:
“Per poco più di 30 mesi, Baku è stato il custode dei giochi europei. Oggi l’EdC riceve i nostri giochi torna più forte e più ricco di potenzialità che mai avremmo potuto immaginare in questa fase. Uno dei grandi lasciti di Baku 2015 sarà hanno posto le basi per tutti i futuri giochi europei. Dopo il successo spettacolare dell’edizione inaugurale, il futuro di questo evento è assicurato.”
Intervenendo alla cerimonia, Ministro Rahimov sai d:
“Signor Presidente, ho la mano a voi la bandiera dei giochi europei in un cofanetto speciale. Esso contiene una targa per la prossima città che ospiterà giochi europei – e abbastanza placche per i prossimi 100 anni dei giochi europei”.
Erano presenti alla cerimonia il Comitato esecutivo di EdC, membri della Commissione di coordinamento di Baku 2015 europea giochi direttori del Comitato di operazioni Baku 2015 europea giochi, come pure diversi volontari che rappresentano i 12 e l’EdC 500 Flamekeepers che hanno giocato un ruolo di rilievo nel successo dei giochi.

I giochi europei è una manifestazione multisportiva per elite atleti europei e si terrà ogni quattro anni con più di 6, 000 atleti attesi per partecipare a Baku, Azerbaigian, giugno 2015. I giochi europei è stato lanciato dopo il voto di maggioranza di 49 NOCs durante l’Assemblea generale di EdC nel dicembre 2012.
L’obiettivo iniziale di EDC era per 15 sport a connotare l’edizione inaugurale dei giochi europei. Dovuto i livelli eccezionalmente elevati di interesse provenienti da federazioni sia europee che internazionale ci sono ora 20 sport sul programma sportivo.
